We still haven’t gotten to painting yet, because Dave wants the bookcase ready first so they don’t end up getting wood stain on the paint. He wants to do paint after the book case so that if stain gets on the wall, he can just paint over it. 🙂
This bookcase is something that they are doing custom for us. It’s not really standard to just have a bookcase built into your basement wall, but it’s something that Kyle and I both want in the basement and we have included it in our basement plans from the very beginning (and I mean the beginning, like eight years ago). I love that it’s starting to look like it’s almost done!
This project has also been kind of a nasty job. I feel really bad for the guys that were downstairs working on it through the staining and finishing stages. The main floor smelled TERRIBLE, and I am sure that the fumes in the basement were worse. I am very grateful that the weather has been so nice lately so that we were able to open some windows to let the nasty fumes out, and we didn’t have to freeze to do it.
