Chloe’s First Trip to the Dentist

I had taken Dinah and Jeremy to the dentist last week for some cleanings, and while we were there Chloe kept asking when it was her turn. So when I went to the desk to discuss future appointments and what we owe and all that good stuff, I also asked when we should start scheduling appointments for Chloe. They asked how old she is and I told them that she is almost three and they said that they could just tag her on with Ethan’s and Tyra’s appointments the next week. So today I returned with all of the kids so that Ethan and Tyra could have their cleanings, and Chloe had her ‘Happy Visit”. Basically the dentist just showed her around the room and they showed her the light and how it works, and the mirror that goes in the mouth so they can see the teeth. Then he counted all of her teeth and then she got to pick a prize from the bag of goodies. She picked a sticky hand (of course) and some monster teeth:

Maybe next time they will try polishing her teeth. 😉

Turnabout is fair play

We sat down for dinner tonight, and as always, children were volunteering to pray. Jeremy was sitting with his arms folded the longest, so I selected him to pray. Chloe also wanted to pray, but she was okay with Jeremy praying. She offered to help him, as typically someone else offers to help her pray.

Chloe: “I hewp you, Jewemy!”
Jeremy: “I don’t need help.”
Me: “Jeremy, just let her help you.”
Chloe: “Say, ‘deah Heavvy Favvah'”
Jeremy: (pause…) “Dear Heavenly Father.”
Chloe: “tank you fowr da food”
Jeremy: (pauses again)
Me (whispering): “Jeremy…”
Jeremy: “I know how to do it!”

Still, we thanked Chloe for helping.

More Hair

French braiding is something that I do NOT do well. Most of the time I put my girls hair in pig tails or pony tails, or only part up. Tyra’s hair is long enough to braid without doing a french braid. But Dinah and Chloe still have rather short hair that in order for them to have braided hair, it must be a french braid. And it’s actually better looking if they have two, because one braid down the middle doesn’t keep the hair very well.  I don’t really know how to coordinate my fingers to be able to do it, but I did know the concept of HOW, so I’ve been trying to practice french braiding. And here is Chloe with her first ever, french braids!

Traveling for Business

Kyle spent the last couple of weeks traveling on business. He works for Symantec, and they sent him on 3 different trips in two weeks. So I’ve been alone to take care of the house and kids for the past couple of weeks and I’m so glad to have him back home. The first week he left on Sunday to fly to Rochester, New York. He spent Monday in the office there in Rochester, then Monday evening he had to fly to Boston, Massachusetts and then drive to Waltham, Massachusetts to spend Tuesday and Wednesday with some software developers there.  Then Wednesday night, he had to fly back to Rochester to spend Thursday and Friday back in that office. He didn’t get home until late Saturday night. Then he was home for Sunday and we had some family over for dinner. He went back to work Monday, and then Tuesday morning he flew out to Springfield, Oregon and didn’t come home until dinner time the next Saturday. So he had a totally crazy time the past couple of weeks.

As for me it was business as usual. Get the kids up early and get them ready for school. Girl scout meetings, cub scout meetings, babysitting three days a week, oh and the school just happened to decide to have SEP’s during the time that he was gone! While Kyle was out of town, Chloe would come to sleep with me every night, (which didn’t really bother me because it beat sleeping alone) and every morning she would ask “Where’s Daddy?” She seemed to think that by sleeping in his spot, that she would be able to catch him whenever he happened to come home during the night. She really didn’t understand that he didn’t come home during the night because he was far far away. Life for both of us has been insane, but I’m so glad that he’s back now. It’s so good to have the whole family back together again. Chloe has issues with him going to work in the mornings, at present. Seems like she’s afraid that he will disappear for days at a time again.
