“Stu”

I was down the hall this afternoon cleaning up in my bedroom when I heard Dinah start crying. I sighed and asked myself “Who’s taking what from Dinah?” A couple minutes later though she still hadn’t stopped and was getting more frantic, so I stopped what I was doing to go find out what was wrong. As I came into the living room this is what I saw:

Dinah looked at me and in a pathetic voice said “Stu” (translation ‘Stuck’). Yup she was stuck. I guess she climbed onto the arm of the couch and slid down between the arms of the couch and chair, and there happens to be a stack of food storage between the couch and chair as well, so she was wedged between the couch the chair and the stack of food storage. Sigh, she is so cute.

Ear infection :(

Well we missed family home evening last week because Kyle wasn’t feeling well, and Wednesday I had a meeting to go to, so we were just planning on doing the lesson today. Well after dinner, we were getting the kids in pjs and were going to go have family home evening right after that. But Dinah wasn’t feeling well at all. She was coughing and had a runny nose, and hadn’t eaten hardly anything all day (we fed her, she just wouldn’t eat) and it turned out that she had a fever. So Kyle decided it was time to call the after hours doctor, and they said to bring her in right away. So we told the kids to get their blankets, and we loaded them up in the car (hoping that they would fall asleep on the drive and that would make bedtime much easier). The clinic was in Provo and we rushed down there to get there before they closed for the night. We got there with about 20 minutes to spare, and Kyle took Dinah in. The doctor listened to her chest and said that it didn’t sound like she had RSV, and checked the rest of her out, and found an infection in her left ear, poor thing. 🙁 So he gave her a prescription for amoxicillin, and we headed home. Every Rite Aid and Walgreens we passed were closed! (I thought they were 24 hour pharmacies, at least they used to be). And finally we noticed one of them had a sign saying that the nearest 24 hour Walgreens was down in Provo. We were just down there! So frustrating. We ended up coming home and giving Dinah some Ibuprofin to help ease the pain through the night, and in the morning I will be making a trip to a pharmacy.

Dinah’s first attempt at nursery

Well this Sunday was a horrible one. Kyle woke up feeling yucky, the kids were not cooperating and getting ready for church when asked. I was subbing for Ethan’s primary class, which meant that I needed to finish making sure I had everything I needed to teach the lesson AND get the kids ready all by myself. Well didn’t have time for breakfast at all, and we were very late to church this morning.

Dinah decided she was going to choke on a fruit snack during sacrament meeting, and she has been doing that a lot lately. She starts choking, then to clear the passage-way her body decides to throw up. Well I saw her making that face like she was getting ready to throw up and quickly took her out to the hallway where we could find a trash can (thankfully we sat at the back of the chapel). She didn’t throw up but got it down, so we went back in to sit down. As soon as I sat down Tyra announced that she needed to go potty. So I got back up and took her to go potty. We got back from the bathroom and Jeremy announced that he needs to go potty too, but I told him to wait until it was time to go to primary.

After sacrament meeting I herded my children down to the primary room. I sat with Ethan’s class since that’s where I was subbing. Jeremy sat in his row, and Tyra sat in her row. I kept Dinah with me since she technically isn’t old enough for nursery yet. But after she finished the bag of fruit snacks, she was driving me crazy! I realized there was no way that I was going to be able teach and take care of this wiggly little girl. So while the junior primary were still in sharing time, I took Dinah down the hall to the nursery. I put her down and she seemed interested in the toys so I left her there and went back to primary.

I got back right before they dismissed the kids to their classes, and my class ended up being dismissed first. Ethan’s class and I had just gotten to our classroom, and I sat down and started pulling out my scriptures and my lesson manual when the nursery teacher brought Dinah in screaming. I guess Dinah was fine in the nursery until she discovered that I was gone (and obviously that didn’t take long). They had tried to calm her down with toys and snacks, but she just wouldn’t have it. Oh well, I think we will try again next week and see if she does any better.
