Ethan’s first day in first grade

Here is my cute first grader all packed up and ready to walk down to the school. He was up SUPER early this morning, and got dressed before coming in to wake us up. And he was carrying his lunch box around the house with him all morning. He is so excited to be going to school again, and this time he gets to take a lunch and he gets to eat it at school.

Sucking Jello

While Kyle and I were dating, there was a time that I went to Kyle’s house, and was waiting in the living room for him. Nobody else was in the living room, but his dad. And his dad was sitting in the corner of the room in his chair, sucking jello (with chunks of fruit in it) through a straw. It made the weirdest sound. But here the legacy continues…..

We went to chuck-a-rama for dinner and when it was time for dessert, Kyle started drinking jello through a straw. Then he taught our boys how to suck jello through a straw. Here is a good one of jeremy giving it a try:

The last day of school 2009

Well we have made it through the very first year of school. Ethan has had a great time in kindergarten, and is excited to be a first grader in the fall. Tyra thinks that she gets to start kindergarten next week. And I am wondering where the time has gone. School has never flown by so fast. I always remember the school year lasting forever, and here it is and Ethan’s done with his very first year. I can hardly believe it.

Here is Ethan with his teacher, Mrs Davis. He really enjoyed having her for a teacher, so he had a good school year. 😉

Kindergarten Bug Program

Ethan was in his first school program tonight. He got to dress up like a bug, and sing bug songs with all the other AM kindergarteners for all the parents. It was so cute. Ethan’s class sang ‘Baby Bumble Bee’, ‘Butterfly Song’, ‘Itsy Bitsy Spider’, ‘Ugly Bug Ball’ and ‘High Hopes’. The other classes sang some other bug songs. Kyle got it all on video (he’s taller than I am and could hold the video camera over more heads than I could 😉 )

Boys and Bugs

Yesterday morning we woke up and came out to the living room, and I opened the blinds for the back door and there were baby grasshoppers EVERYWHERE (on the INSIDE). Of course I was wondering were in the world they came from and HOW did they get in the house???

Ethan’s kindergarten class has been talking about bugs lately, so I thought that I might as well catch some and send them to school with him. He was so excited to show them off to all his friends and his teacher, but she sent them home with him because she didn’t know how to feed them. So when Kyle took the kids to PetSmart last night he picked up a couple critter keepers (I have no idea what they are actually called), to keep the baby grasshoppers in. And since he got two Ethan claimed one for his grasshoppers that he took to school, and Jeremy claimed the other one and asked me to catch some more grasshoppers for his critter keeper. So here are my boys with their bugs:

You can’t really see the bugs in the keepers since they are baby grasshoppers and are quite small (if you look on the top of Jeremy’s keeper there are a couple of black specks, those are some of the bugs). But the kids are thoroughly enjoying watching them and giving them fresh grass and leaves. Ethan keeps trying to catch more and gets so excited when he actually does catch one. I keep trying to catch more, when I see them on the back window or on the floor by the back window. After all I don’t need them loose in the house. 😉
