Debby & Jeff

Well Debby & Jeff finally tied the knot and all I can say is I’m glad it’s finally over! I spent the past couple of months making cakes and cake balls to prepare for the wedding, and the past day or so I thought I would never be done with the cake balls!

I love this picture of Dad walking Debby to the building.

All 4 of Debby’s niece’s got to be flower girls:

Tyra was just soaking up the attention, she is such a social butterfly.

Dinah loved spilling flower petals everywhere. 🙂

I had to escort Chloe down the aisle since she can’t walk yet and that was terrifying! All I can say is I’m glad that Kyle and I were married in the temple and that I didn’t have to walk down any aisle to get to my wedding. 😉

Annaleah was the fourth flower girl, but I couldn’t find a decent picture of her in her tutu. She was throwing a fit when it came time for the flower girls to walk, and Tom got to escort her down the aisle. Then as soon as the wedding was over she stripped her tutu right off!

After the wedding Kyle and I missed the luncheon because we ran home to finish the cakes up and bring them over to the wedding. And let me just say that it takes FOREVER to finish something when the phone is ringing every 5 minutes or so, because somebody (always someone different, but occasionally the same person) keeps calling to find out if you’re done and when you’re coming back! I actually had a meltdown during one such phone call. Kyle answered all the calls because everyone was calling his cell phone, and finally when Patsy called for the second time, I yelled over to the phone ‘How are we supposed to get anything done when the phone keeps ringing and we have to keep answering it!”

The top two layers are actually rice krispie treats covered in fondant, and they look beautiful! We had some issues with the bottom layer, and it actually looks a bit odd compared to the other two layers. Kyle read somewhere that you’re supposed to freeze the cake before icing it to keep it from crumbling, and I think that I’m going to try that next time. But hey I MADE a beautiful wedding cake!

And here are the cake balls:

They truly are beautiful. Perfect little bite sized pieces of cake. And I’m glad they actually got finished before the wedding.

Kyle and I also made the mint julip for the reception, and I had made an ice cream sheet cake, but I was so rushed and stressed about trying to get it to the reception that I totally forgot to take pictures of that.

Aren’t they so cute?

April Fools!

This morning Tiffany came upstairs to show everyone that her pants ripped when she tried to put them on:

As you can see, by Patsy’s holding of the torn pants, it’s a really bad rip. It starts out on the seam, but it didn’t stay along the seam so there’s no way to fix them.

Then later Patsy went downstairs to get dressed, but she came back upstairs saying “OH MY GOSH! MY PANTS RIPPED!” Then she jumped out the basement door shaking her booty at us saying “APRIL FOOLS!” She was fully clothed, but she got us good. It was funny. 🙂

Funny of the day

This morning as we were driving to church Ethan and Tyra had a really cute conversation in the back of the van.

Ethan: “When I get baptized I will be a member of the church.”

Tyra: “Well when I get baptized I’m going to be a princess of the church!”

It was so cute that Kyle and I both had to laugh. 🙂

Will the weekend never come?

This week is just CRAWLING by. I’m so tired, and really stressed out, and I just can’t wait for the weekend. Well for Friday night really. You see, Kyle’s out of town on a business trip. His manager came up to him Friday and asked him if he would go because he’s the best they’ve got, to send. And quick as a flash they had flights and a hotel arranged, and Kyle headed off very early Monday morning to catch his flight to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Me on the other hand, I’m just going crazy being alone with the five kids ALL week! I know that really this week shouldn’t seem much different from what I normally go through. I mean, Kyle works two jobs. He leaves first thing in the morning (he used to leave before the kids got up, but they’ve been getting up earlier and earlier for a chance to see him), and then he goes from job #1 straight to job #2 then he will sometimes go to the gym before heading home, and when he finally does get home the kids are all asleep and I’m usually asleep as well. So really this week shouldn’t be much different right? WRONG! Just knowing in the back of my mind that he’s hundreds of miles away from me is like a dark cloud hanging over my day. Waking up in the middle of the night and finding him still not home drives me crazy. I don’t sleep well, knowing he’s gone and isn’t coming home tonight. Here it is Wednesday night, and I feel like he’s been gone forever, and Friday night just can’t possibly come fast enough!

The last time Kyle went on a business trip I handled things rather nicely. Granted, we only had Ethan then. But Kyle went to North Carolina and was going to be gone for two weeks, so I just said “Ok then I’m going to California for two weeks!” This time I didn’t have that luxury. Having 5 kids now, and with Ethan and Tyra both in school I’m tied to my current location, or believe me I would have packed the van up so fast and we would have gone to Ohio WITH Kyle.
