The fun begins!

Well Kyle went back to work today, so life is changing yet again, and now I need to get back into my routines and get life back to ‘normal’. But it’s going to be a new kind of ‘normal’ now that Chloe has joined the family. So now I have 5 kids to take care of in addition to the house and yard and pets, while Kyle is off working the two jobs. So……..we’ll see how things go. 😉

Chloe’s 2 week check-up

Chloe had her 2 week well child check up today. She’s not quite back up to her birth weight yet, but after the appointment we stopped by the hospital to find out what her discharge weight was and she has actually gained some weight back so that’s good. They want us to come back later this week for a weight check, but other than that she is looking good and healthy, which makes me happy.

Independence Day!

Growing up my family always made homemade ice cream and we watched “Yankee Doodle Dandy” every year on the fourth. And we would finish the night up by doing fireworks on the sidewalk, until California decided to make them illegal. I have no idea what Kyle’s family would do for the fourth aside from going out to dinner since it’s his mom’s birthday. But I have decided to carry on my family’s traditions because that’s what I look forward to on this holiday. 😉 So we made coconut ice cream this year, so yummy. And instead of watching “Yankee Doodle Dandy” a couple of years ago we decided we would watch “1776” instead, since it’s a musical about the writing of the Declaration of Independence. I just LOVE that musical which is so funny to me because I remember my parents watching that movie during my childhood and I remember thinking “This movie is SO BORING!”. But now that I’m old enough to understand what they are saying, and I can hear the words in the songs and some of them are quite funny, I just love it.

The kids had a chance to play in the pool after Kyle mowed the lawn. And I fired up the BBQ and grilled shish kabobs, and corn on the cob. I love barbecued corn and apparantly so does Ethan considering he had 3 halves! Ethan kept saying over and over how much he “loves this dinner” I guess I need to BBQ chicken and corn more often. 😉 And we finished off the night with some fireworks. I just wanted to get a small amount of fireworks so that we wouldn’t be out doing them forever, and Kyle got more than I would have got. Which turned out to be just fine since our ward had an activity last night where a bunch of us got together to do fireworks at the round about on the next street, and very few people brought any. One of our neighbors was taking a tally and it was up to 6 fireworks total, so Kyle ran home and got a bunch of ours to do with the group. It was a lot of fun. And the rest of the fireworks, we will save for Pioneer day. 😛

Welcome home Chloe!

Well it has been a REALLY long week. But the doctor has decided that Chloe could come home tonight after her last dose of antibiotics. So she got her last dose at 6:30 (pm) and then they removed the PICC and when I came for the 8:00 feeding we signed the discharge papers, I nursed Chloe then I got her ready to come home. So now our whole family is home and it’s just wonderful.

As we were leaving the hospital both Tyra and Ethan made comments to the nurse about we would see them again when we have the next baby. Do they know something I don’t?????????

Chloe’s progress

Today Chloe is doing better. She just keeps getting better and better each day. The doctor this morning decided to reduce her IV fluids from 12 ml/ hour to 5 ml/hour. His explaination being that the IV fluids contain a lot of sugar and reducing that should help her be less sleepy and have more of an appetite.

We took the kids down this afternoon for a chance to get to see her, and Dinah was SO sad when she had to leave her again. Ethan and Tyra went in to see her first, but she was sleeping and there wasn’t much to look at. They enjoyed seeing her anyways. Jeremy went in with me, to see her when I went in to feed her. I unwrapped her and changed her diaper and woke her up, so Jeremy got to see her awake. I showed him her tiny little feet and he said ‘how come they like raisins?’ I told him that she had been in water in mommy’s belly for a really, really long time. He had a good time checking her out, and I pointed out her tiny little ears, and tiny little nose, and showed him her little hands. He was asking what all the little cords hanging off of her were for, just being a very curious cute little boy.

When I went back for the evening feeding I heard her screaming, from the hallway. She was HUNGRY, which is so exciting. They have also removed the IV in her arm. They weren’t using it any more (since they put the PICC in), but decided they would leave it there ‘just in case’ but when I got there tonight they said that it had ‘gone bad’ so they removed it. My guess is that means they tried to flush it and it wouldn’t flush. But that’s ok, I’m GLAD it’s gone. It makes it so much easier for her to move her arm to where ever she wants to, and now that the needle and tape and padding is all gone it makes it easier to get her into a comfortable position to try to nurse her on my left side. So things are looking good.
