As we were driving past the Lehi post office I said “Look at all those mail trucks”, to the kids. Kyle responded with “I’m sure one of them is female.”

Father Daughter Bowling
As the leader of my girl scout troop, I decided that I wanted to have a father-daughter activity this year. We do a few family activities throughout the year, and we have a mother-daughter cabin trip every summer and I thought it was about time that we should invite the dads to attend an activity with their daughters. I found some cute father-daughter bowling patches and so we decided to take them bowling. Here are some pictures of my girls with their dad:
Apparently Dinah wasn’t with Kyle when I took these pictures. You can see just part of her legs and her feet in the second one…
Here’s a shot of Kyle when it was his turn:
We had about half of my girl scout dads show up with their girls today. I’m kind of sad that more of them weren’t there. But it was our first time ever doing something like this and I hope we will get a better turnout next year. 🙂
Lunar Eclipse
I really love stargazing. That’s one of my favourite things of living in Eagle Mountain, as I can look up almost any night and see the moon and many stars, sometimes the milky way, and on occasion a shooting star. When I hear things about an eclipse, I make an effort to view it, if weather and timing permits.
We had a lunar eclipse happen during the night, and the forecast was clear, so I was excited. I pulled out the camera and tripod and got them set up, taking them into the back yard to test taking pictures. Turns out, taking night pictures with a digital camera isn’t the easiest thing to do, so I ended up spending half an hour testing different settings, until I finally got the camera ready. Then I brought it inside and set my alarm for the middle of the night.
I woke up and went to the window, seeing the moon partially red, as it is during a lunar eclipse. Ethan also joined me, waking from my alarm. I grabbed the camera and took it outside again, and just sat on the back porch steps watching and taking a few pictures. I needed to tweak the settings of the camera again, probably due to the difference in light, but at least I knew better how to do it.
Flies?
Lydia must have sung The Wise Man and the Foolish Man in nursery today. She is still singing it, but when she gets to the chorus she sings “…the rain came down and the flies came up…” instead of “the rain came down and the floods came up”.
I tried correcting her but she told me I was wrong. 😛
