Saying Goodbye

Our friends, and neighbors down the street moved this morning. And we aren’t talking any small move. They are moving to South Carolina! I’ve known that they day they would leave was coming, and I’ve kind of tried to not focus on it much. I’m really sad about their moving. They have kids close to the same ages as most of ours. She and I would walk together to take our oldest children to kindergarten and to pick them up again. But this day came and they left this morning to begin their 5 day drive to meet back up with their daddy in South Carolina (he had gone a couple of weeks ago because he had to start his new job there and settle business for the house they are to move into).

We walked down the street first thing this morning to take them some Easter treats (since they left before the neighborhood egg hunt this morning) and to say goodbye. I will really miss them, as will some of my kids.

Let’s Try This Again

I had a positive pregnancy test again tonight. It was not part of my plan to be pregnant again right now. I had wanted to wait a couple more cycles and go for a February baby, but apparently Heavenly Father decided that now’s the time, not later. After having a miscarriage, I’ve been afraid of getting pregnant again. So I’m afraid I will go through that experience again, but only time will tell.

Emigration Canyon

Today we went on a little adventure. At the spring merit badge pow wow, one of the merit badges that Ethan was working on was the Citizenship in the Nation. One of the requirements for that merit badge is to visit someplace that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. So we went to explore Emigration Canyon. Emigration Canyon is the canyon that the pioneers came through when they first entered the Salt Lake Valley.

It was so windy, and the little ones were asleep when we got to the look out point, that I decided to sit in the van with them. They didn’t stay asleep though.

Then we headed back down to the mouth of the canyon and checked out the monument that they have there.

Ethan was in a bad mood for whatever reason, and wouldn’t pose in the picture. We then decided to go check out the “This is the Place” park. We got there rather late in the day and it looks like it is similar to Old Salem in North Carolina, so we decided to not pay for admission today and plan another time to come back to be able to spend most of the day there. But we did walk around to check out the statues on the outside of the park.
