Chuck-a-WHAT????

Dad said that he wanted to take us to Chuck-a-Rama for dinner tonight, since he heard that Ethan really likes that restaurant. So when Kyle got home tonight, Tyra ran up to him and excitedly said ‘Daddy, we are going to Chuck-a-grandma tonight!” SO FUNNY

The last day of school 2009

Well we have made it through the very first year of school. Ethan has had a great time in kindergarten, and is excited to be a first grader in the fall. Tyra thinks that she gets to start kindergarten next week. And I am wondering where the time has gone. School has never flown by so fast. I always remember the school year lasting forever, and here it is and Ethan’s done with his very first year. I can hardly believe it.

Here is Ethan with his teacher, Mrs Davis. He really enjoyed having her for a teacher, so he had a good school year. 😉

Tyra’s Birthday

Well Tyra is now 5 years old, and she is just thrilled. She keeps saying that ‘next week’ she gets to go to kindergarten, when actually it’s next fall. 😛 We had her birthday party tonight since Kyle has Wednesday nights off, and we just had a simple dinner of ravioli (because that’s what Tyra asked for). It was just our family and Aunt Wendy, so nothing big or fancy. And we had strawberry shortcake for the dessert, at Tyra’s request.

Kyle spent part of the afternoon working on fixing up the bike that was handed down from cousin Sylvia as a birthday present (Tyra totally freaked out when we put her on the bike, just to see if the seat needed to be adjusted). And she is SO excited that she got a ‘Cinderella dress’ for a birthday present. She has been asking for one for months, and Kyle just happened to see these Cinderella pjs at the Disney store in the mall and picked it up.

“Mom! Stop!”

I was out in the garage this afternoon trying to sort through stuff and throw away the trash and give away stuff we aren’t going to use…..and I came upon a box that my mom had sent up with my dad back before Dinah was born. (Ya I just barely opened it) About half the box were clothes that are for Tyra to grow into that my siblings have all grown out of, some of them were clothes that I remember wearing as a kid (it makes me so happy to have those to pass on to my girls). As I came to an outfit that will fit Tyra now or very shortly I handed them to her, telling her she can go put them in her room. She just stood there collecting stuff, and she was SO excited. “Wow! I love it! Is that for me too???!” And after awhile of me just handing her this pile of clothes to take to her room she said “MOM! Stop! I’m holding too much!” I laughed so hard.

I loaded her up probably two more times after this too. 😉 Hand me downs are AWESOME!

New Dress / The Comic Stylings of Ethan and Tyra

Some of the ward’s ladies came over today to make jam, and one of them (Sister Wozab) was working on making dresses.  She explained she was creating dresses for some local girls who were putting on a play about Dr Suess, and she described some of the dresses she’s made.  Currently, she was working on a “Cindy-Lou Who” dress, red with some colourful frills.  She offered to let Tyra try the dress on, and Tyra was really thrilled to put it on.  After she showed it off, Sister Wozab told Tyra that she could have it!  Tyra wore it for the rest of the evening.

I took the kids to PetSmart to purchase some new fish and other supplies, and in the car, Tyra and Ethan were having a discussion about the dress.  Tyra had a hard time remembering the whole name of the dress, at first.

Tyra: It’s my ‘Cindy-Loua’ dress.
Ethan (correcting her): Who.
Tyra: Me.
Ethan: No, it’s ‘Who.’
Tyra: It’s mine. It’s my ‘Cindy-Loua’ dress.
Ethan: No, Tyra, it’s ‘Cindy-Lou Who.’
Tyra: That’s what I said!

I couldn’t help but feel that Tyra’s dress was perfect for playing First Base.
