Thanksgiving

Well we went to Kyle’s mom’s house for dinner today. I made pies to take along. An apple crisp, a peach pie and a pumpkin crisp. Kyle made mashed potatoes, but I don’t know what possessed him to use his hand mixer instead of the potato masher. They were more like potato mush or whipped potatoes. They tasted good. They were just a weird consistency to me 😉 Karen made the turkey and stuffing and made some mashed yams, covered with marshmallows. And Laurel & Roine brought rolls and green bean casserole.

The kids had lots of fun playing with their cousins. Tyra even skipped dinner completely and just played the whole time.

Debby and Jeff met us there and Wendy came with us, so it was a nice gathering.

It was a busy day and everybody ate too much. But it was good. 🙂

Jeremy’s very first hair-cut

Kyle cut Jeremy’s hair this evening. Here Jeremy is almost three and we have never cut his hair before. It was getting kind of long, but it’s very fine so you really couldn’t tell unless his hair was messy. So we decided it was time to trim it so it has a chance to thicken a bit and give the shorter hairs a chance to catch up. He was very excited about having his hair cut. Every time the clippers would vibrate he thought it was the funniest thing.

We then trimmed Tyra’s new bangs to make them even. I had to help Kyle figure out where the bangs should stop and the rest of the hair began. Then I got to hold the hair out of the way while Kyle made the bangs straight.

Then Ethan also had a hair cut and we finished the night off with a bath to rinse any loose hair off. Dinah didn’t have a hair cut, but she got to join in the bath anyway, because she LOVES baths. 😉

Here’s Jeremy without his fluff.

Tyra cut her hair :(

Well that hair that used to be long enough to put in pigtails and that Grandma actually braided, when we were in California, Tyra cut off today. It’s really not as bad as it could be. But IF it’s long enough to put hairbows in they won’t stay long, or the sprigs of hair will pop out 🙁 . I am really sad. I was enjoying her hair being long enough to DO stuff with. If Ethan were a girl there would be plenty of hair on that kid’s head to braid and put up and make cute, but he is a boy with hair that grows like weeds. Tyra’s hair has always been thin and just takes forever to grow. So at least she didn’t cut it down to the scalp, she just cut maybe 3 inches off in the front. So she has funny looking bangs.

Christmas Lights

We finally got the Christmas lights up on the house. You may think we are a bit early but we have had years where they don’t get up at all because we waited too long and there was snow on the roof. So we always start after Halloween by getting out the lights and testing them and switching out bad lights for good ones then waiting for a warm enough weekend so that Kyle can get up on the roof when it’s not frosted or snowy 😉 So they are up and the kids are happy and they look nice, although the picture doesn’t do a good job of showing it. Ethan actually climbed up on the roof to ‘help’ Kyle. I think he just followed him around watching what he was doing. Then he couldn’t get down because he was too short to sit on the roof and have his feet reach the ladder. Kyle ended up having to get off first then help Ethan get off the roof and onto the ladder.CIMG1488
