Fun day at Disneyland

We took a road trip to Grandpa & Grandma’s house, and got to go to Disneyland yesterday. Ethan was about 2 the last time we went to Disneyland, and Tyra just 6 months old or so, so when I said that we were going to Disneyland they didn’t want to go, and wanted to go swimming in Grandpa’s pool instead. I said, we can go in the pool later. We are going to Disneyland today. It was Jeremy’s and Dinah’s first trip to Disneyland. I am sad that Kyle couldn’t be here with us 🙁 Jonathan and Tiffany were with us the whole day. We spent a lot of time in Fantasy Land, doing little kid rides, although Jeremy and Tyra didn’t really like Mr Toads Wild Ride. They all had fun on the Carrousel and on Casey Jr’s Train. Jeremy wasn’t sure if he liked the Dumbo ride. Tyra was laughing the whole time on Dumbo but was clinging to the side. Tiffany and Jonathan took Ethan, Tyra and Jeremy on the Teacups, and I got them on video. We went on the Pinnochio ride and when we got off Jeremy said “Me like dat!”. Mom, Wendy, Jenny, Tom, Tommy and Annaleah joined us around 4, I think it was. Then we went to do the Haunted Mansion, since Ethan had requested that one. Jennifer took Dinah and Annaleah on Winnie the Pooh while everyone else did the Haunted Mansion. Tommy got one look of inside the Mansion and totally started crying, so Tom took him to wait for us to get off. So the rest of us went in. We got in the elevator and the door closed and the lightning hit and Ethan Tyra and Jeremy all started freaking out. I had to laugh it was just funny. But after we actually got ON the ride they seemed to be ok. Then we went to go on Winnie the Pooh. Jeremy really liked that although that ride just makes me sad that they pulled out the Country Bear Playhouse. 🙁 Then we went on Autopia, while Tiffany, Jonathan and Wendy were in line for Splash Mountain. Ethan really liked Autopia and said, “I want to come back tomorrow and go on Autopia again.” I had to explain that Disneyland is an every once in awhile thing to do, not an every day thing to do. 😉 Jenny & Tom and their family left about dinner time and the rest of us stayed till the park closed. We had dinner with mint julips to drink and fritters for dessert (yummy). Then we went on Star Tours since Ethan just LOVES Star Wars, and he really liked it, but I kind of think Tyra liked it more. The final ride of the night was the Nemo Submarine ride, and Jeremy really liked that one too. Ethan said he wanted out of the sub, but I think he enjoyed it anyway. All in all it was a good day.

We got a new video camera :)

I am so excited that we have a new video camera. Our old one was damaging the audio every time we rewound the tape to watch what we had recorded and that was just making me so sad. Well Kyle and I have talked about it for a long time now, what kind of video camera we would like to have to replace it. We were talking about a video camera that would record to a hard drive, but in the end we decided on one that records to SD cards. So we just got the Cannon FS100, and it’s just so little, and easy to use. We had it shipped to my parent’s house so that I would have it on our trip. I am really excited 😀 The best part is that at Kyle’s work they give him occasional bonuses in the form of Amazon.com gift cards, and he had a few of them saved up and the video camera and the SD cards we got for it just came out of those. So nothing out of our pocket for our new tool for capturing our family history in the making 😛

Our great-uncle died

P1010541

My nana’s big brother, our Uncle Teddy, died on Thursday.  I don’t remember too much about him (only met him a few times when I was young, and recently when his son Ralph died), but I hear he was a fun person, and loved entertaining people with his ventriloquism.  It makes me sad to see that generation go.  Now we have our wonderful Aunt Gail, and their brother Monroe (whom I’ve never met, but heard stories of), left from that generation!

Anyway, I heard he died in the morning, but don’t know more details.  If anyone knows, help us update out family history site with the time and place, ok? 🙂

Saturday’s Weed Pulling Progress

We pulled more weeds today. Kyle spent the morning pulling weeds in the snow, while I made apple jam inside trying to finish canning these apples. He cleared the whole west side of the house of the weeds all the way to the first garden box on the West side of the yard. I went out this afternoon to work on pulling more weeds, and here is the progress:CIMG1328

About half the backyard has been cleared now, and today’s pile is a lot larger than Tuesday’s pile. Even Ethan went out to help some. He helped Kyle a bit and he helped me move plucked weeds to the big pile 🙂
